1. Choose a leather material of an appropriate size, and moderately moisten the leather with water before engraving to make it swell and soften and increase the plasticity of the leather. When the wet leather has almost returned to its original color, the pattern transfer can begin. It must be noted that if the leather is too dry, it will not be easy to cut; if it is too wet, it will not be easy to leave cutting marks. 2. Design the engraved pattern and draw the pattern on the transparent paper. 3. Use a round-tip stylus to transfer the pattern to the wet leather according to the lines of the pattern. First draw its outline, and then draw other detailed patterns. The pen must be firm and powerful, so that the pattern can be perfectly depicted on the leather. It is necessary to check whether the lines are missing at any time. 4. Follow the traces of the pattern transfer pattern on the leather, and use a rotary carving knife to draw a curved pattern outline. When using a rotary carving knife, the blade faces the knife holder, the blade body is inclined outward about 45~60 degrees, cut into the leather about 1/2~1/3 of the depth, and carve lines in front of the knife holder. Use tapping tools and printing tools to tap the basic outline and shadow on the pattern, and tap the background pattern according to the design to create a three-dimensional effect of the pattern. 6. Use the rotary carving knife to carve the decorative lines to retouch the leather carving works to make the picture rich and vivid. 7. Choose the dyeing method according to the design to make the pattern vivid. Common leather dyeing methods include oil dyeing, paste dyeing, resist dyeing, crystal dyeing, dry rubbing, batik, acrylic dyeing, etc. If it is not colored, after surface treatment, it can maintain the characteristics of the leather itself. 8. After the pattern engraving and dyeing are completed, after confirming that there is no dust attached, use leather varnish to wipe gently on the leather surface in circles to increase the gloss. Do not wipe repeatedly after applying one layer. Leather varnish has the function of maintaining leather quality, appearance and protecting leather. 9. Complete the work.
